The Company
November 18, 1960 witnessed the beginning of Bernabe Construction and
Industrial Corporation of Asia (BCICA). Initially known as F. Bernabe &
Sons and located in a modest office-plant in Quezon City, the company
dealt mainly with steel and wood fabrication, specializing in the
manufacture of fixtures and furnitures. Its first clients were mostly
schools, like St. Joseph College, Manuel L. Quezon University, Sta.
Scholastica College, University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University,
University of the East, Stella Maris College and Ateneo de Manila
University, and cinema houses, to name a few. Just within three years
after its founding, BCICA underwent tremendous growth and expansion.
With the expanded activities of oil companies in the Philippines, BCICA
extended its business lines to fill the needs of such companies as ESSO
(now Petron), Mobil, Shell and Caltex.
Not long after, expansion of the operations of the sugar industry
followed suit. BCICA, ever sensitive to the developments in national
progress, became an active participant in and contributed immensely to
the accelerated growth of the sugar industry. With the company’s
inherent pioneering spirit, innovativeness and creativity, other
industry follow suit in our long list of clientele whose demands for
quality, precision, and meeting contractual time is of foremost
consideration to mention a few; cement, agriculture, construction, pulp
and paper, food industry, and not to mention others on our growing list
of customers.
In 1964, due to the need for more space to accommodate the Company’s
increasing demand for its products and services, the company moved its
plant to a 12,000 square meter lot in Valenzuela, Metro Manila. In 1982,
its office in Quezon City was transferred to its newly constructed
office and plant for better coordination. Today, under the roof covering
8,000 square meters is a beehive of activities with jobs being handled
by highly-skilled hands under strict supervision of highly-trained
supervisors and quality control engineers to ensure adherence to
contract specifications, quality, and completion schedules.
To complement its expanded operations and upgrading of its products,
BCICA acquired bigger and more sophisticated machineries from England,
Japan and Singapore. It also hired more skilled workers, technicians and
support staff to augment its work force. Today, BCICA has no less than
250 employees -- structural and electrical engineers, highly skilled
technicians, and planners. The Company, besides being fabricators of
factory and building structures, also acts as consultants for road
construction and earth works projects as well as for
pre-casting/pre-stressing of various concrete form works.
The BCICA has also participated actively as importer/exporter and/or
project managers for industrial companies in Germany, France, Australia,
Italy and the USA. This international exposure has further improved the
Company’s stature in the construction industry.
Today, Bernabe Construction and Industrial Corporation of Asia has
indeed established an enviable record of outstanding achievements in the
field of general construction, project engineering management,
fabricator of cement, sugar and mining equipment and facilities, and in
the construction of waste water plant and facilities and pressure
vessels.
The following pages will attest to the capabilities of this company
which believes not only in growth with direction, a growth guided by a
vision of a nation emerging as a respectable force in our country’s
continuing quest as a new economic tiger of Asia.
